A NEW Costcutter has opened in the Taunton area, replacing a former store which closed this month.
The Co-op store on Wellington New Road, Taunton, has been replaced by Costcutter - with a new sign placed over the old logo.
Closing on November 15, a worker at the store confirmed to the Somerset County Gazette that it would reopen as Costcutter, with no official opening date revealed.

"Yeah, this co-op is closing," a staff member told the County Gazette in early November.
"It is becoming a Costcutters."
Whilst the store was closed, it underwent an internal refurbishment. This included the introduction of Costcutter products and a new-look bakery - which sells a pack of three doughnuts for £1.50.
The new store officially opened for business on Wednesday, November 26.
A spokesperson for Costcutter said: "Costcutter Taunton has officially opened.
"We're excited to join the community with fresh groceries, daily essentials, snacks, drinks and great value right in your neighbourhood.
"If you're nearby and planning meals for the week, it’s definitely worth a quick visit. Always nice to support local stores too.
"Drop in and check out the new store. We can’t wait to welcome you."
The Co-operative Group does not own the Costcutters brand, but the two businesses do have a relationship.
Since May 2018, the Co-op has been the exclusive supplier to Costcutter Supermarkets Group. This agreement has allowed Costcutter stores to sell legitimate Co-op products in-store.
This Co-op supply agreement is set to continue until 2026.
