THE M5 Motorway is set to be closed in both directions overnight this weekend.
National Highways will shut all lanes overnight between Taunton (J25) and Tiverton (J27) from December 6 until December 8. The road will be open during the day but will be closed overnight from 9pm-6am.
This means drivers will be unable to use any slip roads when trying to access the motorway in these parts of Somerset and Devon.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "Please remember that closures can change at short notice.
"You can check the latest information on our daily closures page or find live travel information on our Traffic England site.
"Our travel alerts give details of live incidents on our network."
These roadworks started in October 2025 and are anticipated to finish by the end of February 2026, according to National Highways.
The work has been programmed to follow Somerset Council’s concrete renewal scheme at Junction 26 and Chelston link road.
Jonathan Hill, National Highways’ South West route manager, said that the two schemes "couldn’t be carried out at the same time" as this would have "significantly impacted people’s journey times during the busy summer months", both on the motorway and local roads around the junction.
This closure affects traffic both ways.
