St James Players to perform pantomime at Taunton church

The St James Players will perform Sleeping Beauty at St James Church from Friday, January 30, to Sunday, February 1, transforming the church into a stage for their eighth pantomime production.

Performances begin at 7pm on Friday and 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

A spokesman for the St James Players said: "We are mainly members of St James Church, Taunton.

"We enjoy using drama to bring a smile to the faces of our audiences, to enjoy friendship together and to raise funds for organisations in our community."

Sleeping Beauty tells the classic tale of a princess rescued from a century-long sleep by a prince, with plenty of humour and panto fun for all ages.

The pantomime will raise funds for The Taunton Food Bank and TEAR Fund’s Ukraine appeal.

Taunton Food Bank supports families and individuals in need by providing food and essentials, while Tear Fund works with global partners to help people affected by conflict and disaster, including in Ukraine.

The spokesperson added: "Over the past 17 years, we have worked together to produce seven pantomimes, three murder mysteries, a passion play and four online presentations during Covid."
