A SOMERSET theme park with more than 40 years of history has entered a liquidation process.
Brean Theme Park on the Somerset coast, just north of Burnham-On-Sea, is currently in the ‘Resolutions for Winding Up stage’, which means that the business must do things necessary to close the business legally and practically, such as paying final wages and bills, selling assets (rides and equipment), handling refunds or claims, and more.
The theme park is due to reopen for the season in March 2026, despite liquidators being appointed.

Liquidators were appointed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, with Nicholas Stafford of Hazlewoods LLP overseeing the proceedings. To resolve the liquidation, the theme park must be wound up voluntarily.
Posted via the London Gazette, a notice states that 'Notice is given' that written resolutions of the above-named Company were passed on January 28 2026, as a Special resolution and an Ordinary resolution respectively.
Brean Theme Park has been a staple in the local tourism landscape since its development began in the 1970s. The land was originally purchased in 1946 for farming, with camping introduced before it was developed into a leisure park. It has garnered popularity among holidaymakers visiting Brean and the surrounding areas.
Known to have strong ties to pop culture TV icon, Sooty, the park was previously owned by Sooty’s host, Richard Cadell and his brother David, until 2014, when they sold it. It has popular rides like the Terror Castle ghost train and 'Astro Storm', which is the old Space Invaders ride from Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
The park typically operates from March to October during the season, offering free entry and various rides available for purchase using credits.
Brean Theme Park currently leases land from Unity Holidays.
A spokesman for the company said: “While Brean Theme Park leases land from Unity Holidays, it is not a business we own.
“The theme park is its own business.
“Anything that may or may not be happening to the theme park does not and will not affect Unity Holidays, or our park in Brean (Unity Beach).
“We continue to operate as normal, and Brean Play, Brean Splash and Brean Gym will re-open as planned for the 2026 season - all with many improvements and enhancements as part of our ongoing investment in our Unity Beach resort."
At the time of this report, the park will be opening its doors on Saturday, March 14, according to the Brean Theme Park website.
The Somerset County Gazette have approached Brean Theme Park for comment.
