Cheddar
Mighty Mammoths at Cheddar Gorge and Caves
A mammoth-themed adventure trail awaits families over half term.
Cheddar Gorge and Caves will host the mighty mammoths event from Saturday, February 14 to Sunday, February 22.
Families can follow an interactive trail and earn a reward sticker.
Along the way, visitors can learn about mammoths, watch live Stone Age fire and tool-making demonstrations, and get creative with a mammoth craft to take home.
Entry includes access to the event and the six main attractions, including Yeo’s journey in Cox’s Cave, the museum of prehistory, and Jacob’s ladder and the lookout tower.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

A Perrier Comedy and Fringe First winner is bringing a new autobiographical show to Frome.
Will Adamsdale presents AI, AI, Oh... (or How I Wrote a Hit Sitcom with ChatGPT but We're Not Talking Now) at Merlin Theatre on Friday, February 13 at 7.30pm.
The autobiographical show, written and performed by Mr Adamsdale and directed by Tom Parry-Wicks, is about technology, creativity, and escape.
The performance lasts 60 minutes with no interval and is recommended for people aged 12 and above.

Frome Potato Day and Seed Swap
Frome Field 2 Fork is holding a potato day and seed swap event.
This event on Sunday, February 15, at Cheese & Grain, gathers individuals from 10am to 2pm to celebrate local food and horticulture.
It offers essentials for a new growing season, from seed potatoes to fruit trees.
A community seed swap will be available for attendees to exchange seeds and plants.
At 10 am, herbalist Ben Still will host an insight herbalism rose circle.
At 11 am, Alex at HotSteppa Sauce will share the principles of hot sauce creation.

Royal Ballet: Woolf Works
A screening of the Royal Ballet performance of Woolf Works is coming to Frome's Merlin Theatre.
The Olivier Award-winning show, inspired by Virginia Woolf’s writing and led by resident choreographer Wayne McGregor, will be shown on Sunday, February 15.
The ballet, which was created in 2015, is a collage of themes from novels, such as Mrs Dalloway, Orlando, and The Waves, and Woolf’s other writings.
The production rejects traditional narrative structures and evokes Woolf’s signature stream of consciousness writing style.
Tickets for the 2pm performance cost £18 for adults and £15 for friends.

Shepton Mallet
Mid-Somerset Agricultural Society Countryside Day
A day showcasing rural activities is coming to Shepton Mallet this weekend.
The Mid-Somerset Agricultural Society's Countryside Day will take place on February 15, from 9am to 4pm, at the Mid-Somerset Showground, on Cannard's Grave Road.
Attendees will have the opportunity to watch the hedgelaying competition, vintage tractor run, and Land Rover meet.
There will also be clay pigeon shooting and a have-a-go gun dog scurry.
The event features on-site catering and parking.
Wells
Wells Cathedral Half Term Holiday Activities
Children can carve soap, sew, and try glass crafts at Wells Cathedral this half-term.
The activities, running from February 17 to 19, offer creative experiences from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
On Tuesday, February 17, children can design and carve their own maker’s mark in soap.
Wednesday, February 18's session invites participants to stitch their own story or create a collage.
The final workshop, on Thursday, February 19, features stained glass-themed crafts.
No booking is required for the activities, and admission is included with cathedral entry.
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

BetMGM Kingwell Hurdle Day
Dog races and dog shows will feature at Wincanton Racecourse on Saturday, February 14.
Kingwell Hurdle Day, one of the racecourse’s biggest fixtures, will also feature the Grade Two Kingwell Hurdle.
This race often serves as an important trial for the following month's Unibet Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
Dog-themed activities will include races for large and small breeds and show classes such as 'fabulous fella', 'loveliest lady', 'rescue dog', 'best turned out', 'young handler', and 'judge would most like to home'.
Gates open at 11am, the first race starts at 1.05pm, and the last race at 4.35pm.

Yeovil
Acoustic Afternoon at Westlands
A jazz musician is set to perform at a monthly acoustic event in Yeovil this weekend.
Julie Dunn, a singer-songwriter, will be performing at the Acoustic Afternoons on Saturday, February 14, at Westlands Entertainment Venue.
The event, running from 1pm to 3pm, offers free entry, with no advance booking required.
Ms Dunn, known for her eclectic influences from J.S. Bach to Ella Fitzgerald, relocated to Yeovil from London in 2001.
Born into a musical family, she started piano lessons at age seven and formed her first jazz band, First Circle, in the 1990s.
She also recorded several acclaimed albums with top UK and international jazz artists.
Yeovil Town vs Rochdale
Yeovil Town will be hosting Rochdale on Saturday, February 14, offering discounted tickets for youngsters.
As part of a half-term initiative, under-16s can attend for just £1.
