A MAJOR A-road near Taunton, which was closed for nearly a month before reopening and then closing again, has fully reopened today.
Somerset Council has opened the A361 on the Levels today (Monday, February 23), as the road is now clear of flood water.
The road had to be closed on Friday, February 20, after water levels had risen during the week following further rain on saturated ground, causing the spillway adjacent to it to top over on to the surface, causing flooding.
The persistent wet weather and saturated ground on the moors and levels will mean that the situation is likely to remain changeable over the coming weeks, with further closures of the A361 Burrowbridge to East Lyng emergency road closure gate possible until there is a prolonged dry period.
