A performance by Somerset Opera and a rock concert are also on the agenda.

Pirates of Penzance – Somerset Opera

Somerset Opera will perform Pirates of Penzance in Taunton this week.

The company will take to the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre stage on Thursday, March 19.

Sarah Helsby-Hughes directs the show, with music by Sam Baker.

The story concerns Frederic, who, having completed his 21st year, is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates.

He meets the daughters of the incompetent Major-General Stanley, including Mabel, and the two young people fall instantly in love.

Tickets, which can be purchased at tacchi-morris.com/somerset-opera, are £20 for adults and £10 for children.

A booking fee applies.

Scheduled for Friday, March 20, the 60-minute performance will explore Ms Borthwick's struggles with dyscalculia, following her journey from school challenges to career setbacks.

Her antics offer a humorous take on personal insecurities.

Known for their own 'Atlanticana' sound, the Bristol-based group draw influence from the likes of The Eagles, Tom Petty, and The Band.

Support will come from acoustic folk artist Retini.

Peregrine Project Talk

An upcoming talk will explore Taunton Minster’s resident peregrine falcons.

Robin Morrison is set to give an illustrated talk, 'Taunton Minster Peregrine Project', at Taunton Minster, on Tuesday, March 24, at 4pm.

The lecture will focus on the falcons' adaptation to urban life, their behaviour during the breeding season, and the efforts involved in monitoring and protecting the birds.

It will also look at what the presence of the peregrines reveals about urban wildlife, conservation, and the relationship between nature and historic buildings.

All are welcome.
