M5 crash near Taunton leaves two people in hospital

Avon and Somerset Police were called at 3.21pm on Wednesday, March 25, to the M5 Northbound carriageway between Junction 26 (Wellington) and Junction 25 (Taunton) following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Police have confirmed that two people were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Officers have said they are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision to call 101 and quote the reference number 5226082234.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust also attended the scene.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 15:19hrs on Wednesday 25 March to a road traffic collision near West Buckland.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer to the scene. We conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital.”

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were also called to the scene of the incident, where they rescued a person trapped inside their vehicle.

A spokesperson for Taunton Fire Station said: "Crews were in attendance at a Road traffic collision between two vehicles on the M5 northbound carriageway, where one person was reported as trapped.

"There were three fire engines and the Heavy Rescue vehicle in attendance.

"Crews used cutting and stabilising equipment to extricate 1 trapped person from one of the vehicles before making the vehicle safe."

“Two people were taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening or life changing.
