A PERSON has been hospitalised, and an air ambulance was called following a crash which resulted in the full closure of a road in Bridgwater for multiple hours.
At around 1.5pm on Tuesday, April 7, emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on Wills Road, and the road was closed near the junction with Frampton Road.
Police confirmed the crash involved a truck and a woman who was riding a bicycle, who was taken to Southmead Hospital after suffering 'potentially life-changing injuries.'
A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.12pm today (Tuesday 7 April) to attend Frampton Road in Bridgwater following a collision involving a truck and a bicycle.
“A woman, who was riding the bicycle, was taken to hospital after suffering potentially life-changing injuries.
“The road was closed to allow enquiries to take place at the scene and reopened at around 4.30pm.”
When approached for comment, the ambulance service said they sent one double-crewed ambulance, an air ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 13:05hrs on Tuesday, 07 April to a road traffic collision near Bridgwater.
“We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.
“We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Southmead Hospital.”
