Red Arrows fans in Somerset are being urged to look to the skies this afternoon as the famous display team heads south-west on a transit flight to Devon.
The team is due to pass close to the county on Friday, May 29, as they travel from RAF Waddington to Exeter Airport ahead of an evening display at the English Riviera Airshow in Torbay.
According to the planned route, the jets will head over Lincolnshire and the Midlands before tracking across West Wiltshire and then passing just west of Nunney, near Frome, at around 2.19pm.
While there is no full display scheduled over Somerset itself, people living in areas along the flightpath may still catch a glimpse of the distinctive red Hawk jets as they thunder overhead.
Residents could also hear the team before they see them, with the Red Arrows’ trademark engine noise often echoing across the countryside as the formation sweeps past.
Timings and the precise route can change at short notice because of weather conditions or operational requirements, so any sighting windows are approximate rather than guaranteed.
After touching down at Exeter, the Red Arrows are expected to refuel and prepare for their evening appearance over Torbay, where they are due to perform at the English Riviera Airshow.
They are then scheduled to return to Exeter Airport following the display, rounding off a busy day of flying for the world-famous aerobatic team.
