OVER the last three days, emergency services have rescued three people from their vehicles following two crashes in Somerset.

Crash today in Crowcombe

At around 11am this morning (Monday, June 8), fire crews from both Wiveliscombe and Nether Stowey were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in the area of Stogumber Road, Crowcombe, Somerset.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service crews assisted one person from one vehicle and extricated another person from the second vehicle using small tools and spreaders.

The fire service confirmed that crews provided first aid provision until Ambulance Service arrived and handed the incident over to Avon and Somerset Police.

Crash near Frome on Saturday

Fire engines from both Frome and Radstock were sent to Kilmersdon after the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service control room received calls from Avon and Somerset Police about a single-vehicle crash at 7 am on Saturday, June 6.

According to the police, the road traffic collision left a car overturned after coming to rest on its side, trapping one person inside.

On arrival at the scene, fire crews confirmed the car had left the highway and come to rest in a field, and they set to work stabilising the vehicle.

Fire crews then worked with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust personnel to come up with a plan to extricate the casualty safely.

By around 8.30am, the incident was brought under control after crews removed the windscreen of the car and guided the 'casualty' out through it safely.

Once released from the vehicle, the 'casualties' were left in the hands of the ambulance crews at the scene.
