Charities and community groups across Somerset are being offered free stalls at upcoming Diversity and Inclusion Markets in Taunton and Weston-super-Mare.

Taunton Independent Market will host the initiative on Saturday, June 27, followed by Weston Independent Market on Sunday, June 28.

Organisers say the events aim to “create an event that reflects the diversity of our towns and celebrates the people who make them special."

A limited number of pitches are being made available at no cost to registered charities and community interest organisations, giving them a platform to raise awareness, recruit volunteers and engage with visitors.

Organisers said the markets are designed to create “a positive space where people can come together, learn about local organisations and enjoy everything that our independent markets have to offer,” adding that “everyone should feel welcome, valued and represented.”

Visitors can expect the usual mix of independent traders, food, gifts and live music, alongside a dedicated area showcasing charities, community interest companies and organisations that support different groups within the community.

Local charities, Community Interest Companies and non-profit organisations are encouraged to reach out to Taunton Independent Market to request a stall. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Organisers added: "Independent markets are about more than shopping; they are about creating places where people can meet, share experiences and build stronger local connections."
