A GoFundMe page has been launched to support a free annual event.
The fundraiser aims to keep Somerset Armed Forces Day running. This event brings together serving personnel, veterans, cadets, military families and the wider community in celebration and support of the armed forces.
Ed Cullen, chair of Somerset Armed Forces Day, said: "It is a free event, we have people from all walks of life who attend. Children can climb on a tank and have a fantastic day for the family - for free - there’s not many places that offer this.
"The day costs between £30,000 and £40,000 to run. Taunton Town Council give us £5,000, the Ministry of Defence gives us £5,000, Somerset Council provides the land for free and the only other way we get funding is through sponsorship, so we are struggling this year."
He highlighted the significant expenses involved in hosting the event.
Mr Cullen said: "Our insurance is £3,500, our medical cover £3,500 and security is £2,000.
"So all the acts, we have to pay them, some range from £100 to £2,000. And that is our biggest challenge.
"Because we are not professionals at sponsorship, we are just struggling. We have Wellington Motors who are our lead sponsor, but otherwise not much – I was hoping to get more from the GoFundMe page.
"If you can afford it, please do. Keeping the day going – it is the biggest free event in the South West of England for people to attend.
"It is a community day for everyone, that is in support of the armed forces."

The organisers hope community donations will help cover essential costs including event infrastructure, equipment, safety measures, accessibility, and publicity.
The GoFundMe page describes the day as "a free community event bringing together serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets, Armed Forces families, emergency services, charities, schools, local organisations and the wider Somerset community."
It emphasises that "every contribution, large or small, helps us bring the community together and show support for Somerset’s Armed Forces community".
Donations can be made on the day via card or cash.
