Tesco has issued a statement after the extreme rain yesterday meant their Glastonbury store had to be suddenly evacuated.
The sudden downpour in the afternoon of Monday, June 22, wreaked havoc across the Somerset town, with several shops closing and dramatic footage shared on social media.

The Tesco superstore on Wirral Park Roundabout, Wirral Park Road, in Glastonbury had to evacuate customers and temporarily close due to the heavy rainfall causing water runoff in the streets.
A Tesco spokesperson has confirmed: “Our Glastonbury superstore is open as usual following a brief closure yesterday evening. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
Some parts of Somerset are still recovering from surprise flash floods occurring yesterday afternoon into the evening.
