A Weston-super-Mare secondary school kept pupils indoors after being contacted by police during an operation in the local area.
Worle Community School Academy said it was asked by Avon and Somerset Police to keep students inside after break time on Thursday, July 9.
In a message sent to parents and carers, the school said officers were unable to provide details about the incident at the time.
The school also said police advised against putting the school into lockdown and asked that parents were not contacted until officers gave the all clear.

In the message, the school said: "I am contacting you to let you know as early as possible that we were asked by the police to keep all students indoors after break time today due to an incident in the local community, they are not able to give us any details regarding the incident.
"We were advised by the police not to lock down the school and not to contact parents and carers until we were given the all clear; this has just been given."
Avon and Somerset Police later confirmed the activity was linked to a planned operation.
A spokesperson said: "We are receiving a number of calls from concerned members of the public regarding heavier than normal police activity in Weston-super-Mare and Worle today (Thursday 9 July).
"We would like to reassure people that this is part of a pre-planned policing operation as part of an ongoing investigation.
"Thank you for your patience and understanding, and people can expect to see a heightened police presence for the remainder of the day."
