A YEOVIL man has appeared in court charged with controlling behaviour, sending threatening messages and breaching a restraining order in relation to his former partner.
Jamie Higgins is alleged to have carried out the offences over a three-year period including causing her to fear he would be violent towards her.
Higgins, 33, of Howard Road, appeared in the dock before District Judge Angela Brereton, sitting at Yeovil.
He was charged that between September 22, 2025, and February 11, 2026, he posted videos and images on various social media platforms alluding to his ex, which he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order imposed at Yeovil Magistrates Court on September 22, 2025.

Between January 1, 2023, and September 22, 2025, he was alleged to have repeatedly engaged in controlling and coercive behaviour towards his ex by accessing her mobile phone, contacting her via fake social media accounts, and trying to control contact with family members.
A third charge of harassment was also alleged that between March 1, 2023, and February 11, 2026, he caused the complainant to fear that violence would be used against her by his course of conduct in that he sent her numerous threatening messages/ voice notes and made threats to her in person.
Higgins did not enter pleas to any of the charges and the district judge declined to accept jurisdiction for the case ordering him to be committed to Taunton Crown Court to stand trial.
All matters were adjourned until August 3 when Higgins must appear before a pre-trial and preparation hearing at the crown court.
Until then he was released on bail on condition he does not contact the complainant except via social services or solicitors, or by contact through the family court.
