The latest Taunton offenders sentenced in magistrates' court

HERE are some of the latest Taunton and wider Somerset offenders who have appeared in Magistrates' Court.

Paul Rose, 54, of William Street, Taunton, pleaded guilty to harassing a woman between May 24, 2024 and August 26 of last year.

Rose has been subject to a community order requiring him to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Rose has been ordered to pay £85 in costs, a surcharge of £114, and a fine of £80.

Terrence Harvey, 67, of St James Court, St James Street, Taunton, pleaded guilty to stealing items to the value of £49 belonging to Cool Merch, at County Walk, Taunton on February 19 of this year, and a collectable figurine to the value of £55 belonging to the same store on February 16 of this year.

Harvey has been ordered to pay £104 in compensation.

Sheldon Turner, 38, of no fixed abode, Taunton, Somerset, pleaded guilty to assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty in Taunton, Somerset, on April 18 of this year.

Turner has been given a suspended sentence order of imprisonment for 10 weeks, suspended for 23 months.

Turner must complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and pay £250 in compensation.

Edward Hayes, 41, of East Reach, Taunton, Somerset, was sentenced in Taunton Magistrates’ Court.

The listings state Hayes entered Mei’s Buffet Restaurant on East Street, Taunton, as a trespasser on July 25 of this year with intent to steal.

The listings also state that on July 28 of this year Hayes entered Taunton Country Market at 2-3 Bath Place with intent to steal, along with 5A Bath Place on July 28, and 7 Bath Place on July 23.

Hayes has been given a total suspended custodial period of 45 weeks in prison, suspended by 12 months.

Hayes must complete 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days, pay £750 in compensation, and £85 in costs.
