A charity football challenge has raised more than £3,000 to support emergency care from the skies in the South West.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance launched the Big Keepy Uppy Challenge during the World Cup, inviting communities to complete 3,000 football kick-ups in tribute to the charity’s 2,738 missions last year.
The campaign, which ran from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, July 19, raised more than £3,400.
Participants were entered into a prize draw to win a signed AFC Bournemouth football, donated by the club.
Rosie Cornelius-Light, fundraising officer at Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, said: "A massive thank you to everyone who took part in our first ever Big Keepy Uppy Challenge.
"It was amazing to see so many people getting involved and embracing the excitement of the World Cup whilst supporting the charity.
"From families, workplaces, and youth teams, it's been fantastic to see people having fun and making a real difference.
"We're also incredibly grateful to AFC Bournemouth for supporting the challenge and donating a signed football as a prize."
The winning team was from Dorset-based building company Modulek, whose colleagues raised £670 and completed their 3,000 kick-ups in a single session.
Ian Grundy, non-executive marketing director at Modulek, said: "The team at Modulek achieved 3,000 keepy-uppies in just one session – with many colleagues joining in to have some fun and support this very worthy cause.
"The team was super pleased to support the very important work of Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance."
