CHARD has been named Somerset’s 'sexiest' town, based on the amount of sex toys being bought.

The title comes from sex toy retailer Lovehoney’s newly released 2026 UK Sex Map, which uses a year’s worth of sales data to reveal trends in sexual wellness across the country.

Chard ranked 39th nationally, topping Somerset for the highest per-capita purchases of sexual wellness products.

Annabelle Knight, a sex and relationship expert at Lovehoney, said: "Sexual wellness doesn’t only exist in big cities; it’s for everyone.

"Our data often shows strong engagement from smaller communities, where people may value the privacy, choice, and convenience of shopping online.

"It’s always great to see pleasure alive and well in every corner of the UK, and the Sex Map is a reminder that sometimes the most unexpected places have the most interesting stories to tell."

The Lovehoney Sex Map analysed online orders to identify national trends and “hotspots” of sexual wellness.

Chard led Somerset, followed by Wellington, Radstock, Shepton Mallet, and Yeovil.

Shepton Mallet ranked 167th overall in the UK, Yeovil came in at 170th, and Wells placed 242nd.

Bridgwater was ranked 248th, Minehead 286th, Taunton 297th, and Frome 422nd.

At the opposite end of the county’s list, Burnham-On-Sea was Somerset’s least “sexy” town, ranking 633rd nationally.

Lovehoney said the success of smaller towns on the Sex Map reflects that discretion and convenience in online shopping are highly valued.

The interactive Sex Map allows users to compare how their town ranks compared to others in the UK.

Ms Knight said sexual wellness is a nationwide interest, not limited to larger urban areas.
