The Help the Hospice appeal was given a huge helping hand back in 2005, with a massive donation from the Freemasons movement’s national Grand Charity.

The £1,500 donation to St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice was made by Tony Old, representing the Provincial Lodge of Somerset, and Bob Salter, representing local Masonic Lodges.

The contribution was one of many which the Freemasons movement’s charity makes across the UK, providing financial support to hospice charities such as St Margaret’s.

Leo Hayward, St Margaret’s director of fundraising, said at the time: "The Freemasons of Somerset made major contributions towards the building of our hospices in Taunton and Yeovil and we are most grateful to them and their national Grand Charity for their ongoing support for our work."
