POLICE have confirmed a woman died following an incident near Wellington over the weekend, leading to the cancellation of services from Bristol to Taunton.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police confirmed they were called to an incident at Tiverton Parkway Railway Station at 8.27pm on Saturday, August 15.
The police spokesperson said they received reports of a casualty on the tracks, leading to train services to Taunton being halted and cancelled while emergency services responded.
Officers and paramedics both attended the scene, and police officers confirmed a woman was pronounced dead.
A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust said they sent one double-crewed amulance, an air ambulance, two operations officers and the hazardous area response team to the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 8.27 pm on 15 August to Tiverton Parkway Railway Station to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Officers and paramedics attended, and sadly, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
The spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 20:33hrs on Saturday 15 August to an incident in Tiverton.
"We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, two operations officers, and the hazardous area response team to the scene.”
