A PET dog was safely rescued after becoming stranded around 30ft down a cliff in Somerset.
HM Coastguard Watchet was called to assist after Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a report from a concerned dog owner whose pet had run off the cliff near Lilstock on Sunday evening (August 23) and become stuck below.
Nether Stowey Fire Station and a specialist rope rescue team were also dispatched to the scene, while the coastguard was tasked with providing support and coastal liaison.

After arriving at the incident and liaising with the fire service's incident commander, rescue teams carried out the operation to recover the dog.
Coastguard officers helped haul both the dog and the rope rescue technicians safely back to the top of the cliff.
Thankfully, the dog escaped the ordeal without injury.
HM Coastguard praised the owners for not attempting to climb down the cliff themselves and instead calling for emergency assistance.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard Watchet said: "The owners did the right thing by not trying to climb down the cliff and dialled 999 for assistance.
"Remember, in a coastal emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
The Coastguard, fire service and rope rescue teams all worked together to bring the incident to a successful conclusion, with the dog returned safely to its owners.
