County Championship: Somerset vs Glamorgan

Somerset CCC men's County Championship clash against Glamorgan is continuing this week.

The sides are set to meet each day between Thursday, September 3, and Saturday, September 5, at the Cooper Associates County Ground, starting 10.30am.

Somerset are looking to push for their first-ever County Championship title as the 2026 season moves into its twilight.

Before the start of play on Wednesday, September 2, they sat in second place of Division One, just four points behind defending champions Nottinghamshire.

Tickets for the match, starting at £26 for adults – or £20 without temporary members' benefits – and £7 for juniors, are available via somersetcountycc.co.uk/fixtures-results.

5 Mistakes That Changed History

A popular comedy show with a historical twist is coming to Taunton.

The Brewhouse will host 5 Mistakes That Changed History on September 4 at 7.30pm.

Presented by historian and comedian Paul Coulter, the show explores five people whose mistakes altered the course of history.

Blending history with humour, the show has sold out at both the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

The show is suitable for ages 12 and over and has a running time of 110 minutes.

Tickets cost £25 and are available via tauntonbrewhouse.co.uk/events/5-mistakes-that-changed-history.

Broadbeat 2026 will take over the Creative Innovation Centre on Saturday, September 5, from 1pm to midnight.

Leading the roster are The Masonics, known for their blend of garage punk and rhythm and beat, reminiscent of The Milkshakes.

Emerging talent Quick Romance will also perform, followed by Monaux and Rosbif Attack.

Nervous Twitch and The Burntwick Smugglers are also set to play.

DJ Lee Grimshaw and Bath's Hold Tight DJs will join the headliners.

Tickets are £25 in advance at creativeinnovationcentre.co.uk/live-music/broadbeat-2026-7-bands-djs-more-sat-5th-sept, and £35 on the door.

Somerset's women are also in action in Taunton over the next week, as they prepare to take on Lancashire in the Women's Metro Bank One Day Cup.

The match will be played at Taunton Vale Sports Club on Wednesday, September 9, with play beginning at 10.30am.

Advance tickets are available from the Somerset CCC website for £10 for adults and £5 for juniors, with prices increasing on the day.

Somerset will be hoping to match their four-wicket win at Southport in April.
