A STRETCH of the M5 will close in both directions this afternoon to allow National Grid to deal with a dangerous overhead power cable.
The closure affects the route between junctions 22 and 23.
This is due to National Grid attending to a dangerous low-hanging overhead power cable.
The closure is due to start at around 2.30pm or 3pm and will be in place for approximately one hour.

A spokesperson for Somerset Council said: "The M5 will be closed in both directions today between J22 and J23, due to National Grid attending to a dangerous low-hanging overhead power cable.
"The closure starts at around 2.30pm or 3pm, and will be in place for approx 1 hr.
"The A38 will be the diversion route."
A National Grid Electricity Distribution spokesperson said: "Following a fault on our electricity network near the M5, our engineers are carrying out an urgent inspection in the area. National Highways is temporarily closing the M5 between junctions 22 and 23 to allow this work to be carried out safely.
"Where possible, repairs will be completed at the same time. If further work is required, we will continue to work closely with National Highways to plan this safely.
"We are sorry for the disruption caused and thank motorists for their patience."
