The Red Arrows will take to the skies near the Somerset border in a one-off display later this week.

The world-famous RAF aerobatic team will perform a flypast in front of Longleat House this Friday (September 11) during the Icons of the Sky event, part of Longleat's 60th anniversary celebrations.

A Longleat spokesperson said: "The legendary RAF Red Arrows are kicking off the Icons of the Sky air display this Friday.

"We can't wait to see their one-off celebratory fly past in front of Longleat House at 2.15pm."

The three-day event, running from September 11 to 13, will feature aerial displays, hot-air balloons, warbirds and pyrotechnics.

Several hot-air balloons will make their UK debuts at the event, including the bird-shaped Yara, the rare Chateau Balleroy balloon and a 120-foot scarecrow.

Longleat said it was “thrilled” when the Red Arrows flypast was confirmed in August.

A spokesperson said: "The RAF Red Arrows began displaying only a year before our lions were introduced to the Wiltshire countryside, so it really is bringing two national treasures together for a sensational celebration."

The Icons of the Sky programme also includes mass balloon launches, night-glow displays, aerobatics and a fireworks finale, weather permitting.

Entry is included with a Longleat day ticket.
