A North Somerset pub landlord who dedicated decades of his life to serving his community has died at the age of 90.
Ronald "Ron" Hazelton, who ran The Poacher on Portishead High Street for around 20 years, was also a town councillor, school governor and former president of the local chamber of trade and commerce.
He and his wife Hilary moved to the town in 1986 and quickly became involved in community life.
Mrs Hazelton, 86, said: "I'd like people to remember him as a very good landlord.
"He was always kind, kept order in the pub and was really good with the youngsters who came in."
Mr Hazelton was also known for helping organise Portishead’s Christmas lights and once completed a 400-mile cycle ride to raise funds for the project.
He served as a governor at St Peter’s School and sat on Portishead Town Council.
He is survived by his wife, two children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs Hazelton added: "He was a good family man.
"He was always doing something for somebody. People thought a lot of him."
The couple were married for 66 years, and family and friends recently gathered to mark what would have been his birthday.
A service to bury his ashes will be held at St Peter’s Church, followed by a celebration of his life at The Poacher.
