Motorists are being urged to avoid a village road after an oil spill prompted a closure and a police response.
Dark Lane in Backwell has been shut following an incident involving a heavy goods vehicle.
Police attended the scene on Thursday, Septmber 19 and have been putting traffic cones in place while the road remains closed.
Backwell Parish Council said: "Please do not attempt to drive up or down Dark Lane.
"There has been an HGV oil spill on Dark Lane. Police are currently attending and putting cones in place.
"The road is expected to remain closed throughout the day. It is therefore likely that the afternoon school run will also be affected.
"Please avoid the area, allow extra time for your journey and make alternative arrangements where possible."

Drivers have been advised to seek alternative routes while work takes place to deal with the spill and make the road safe.
The parish council said it would share further updates when more information becomes available.
The closure is expected to affect traffic in the area throughout the day, including journeys linked to local schools during the afternoon.
