Somerset dog lovers are being invited to help choose Clarks Village's next CEO, and the decision is now in the hands of the public.

The Street shopping outlet has unveiled the 10 finalists in its search for a new Canine Executive Officer (CEO), with voting now open on its Facebook and Instagram pages.

The shortlisted pooch with the most combined comments across the two social media platforms will be crowned Clarks Village's next CEO, following in the paw prints of last year's winner, Archie the golden miniature dachshund.

The competition was launched during Clarks Village's popular Pawsome Pooch event on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, which attracted hundreds of dogs and their owners.

More than 300 dogs took part in free professional pet photoshoots in the hope of securing a place on the shortlist, while visitors also enjoyed dog trick and agility sessions, pooch pampering, illustrated pet portraits, dog treat stalls and a canine catwalk.

After reviewing the entries, judges narrowed the field down to 10 contenders.

The shortlisted dogs are mixed-breed rescue Buckley, labrador retriever Enzo, wire-haired dachshund Figgy, working sheepdog Hiccup, corgi LiLou, German Shorthaired Pointer Lionel, schnoodle Luna, cocker spaniel Milo, mixed-breed Nova and Jack Russell Travis.

Voting is open until Sunday, September 27, with dog lovers encouraged to visit Clarks Village's social media channels and back their favourite candidate.

The winning dog will receive a prize package worth more than £500, including shopping vouchers, meal vouchers for Bill's and Prezzo Italian, plus a range of treats and goodies from brands based at the outlet.

The outlet has also been named the UK's Most Dog Friendly Shopping destination by DogFriendly for the past two years and is hoping to make it three in a row this year.

As well as voting for their favourite canine CEO candidate, dog owners can also support Clarks Village in the DogFriendly awards.

Those who cast a vote are entered into a prize draw to win a dog-friendly holiday.

The annual Pawsome Pooch event celebrates Clarks Village's four-legged visitors and highlights the outlet's dog-friendly facilities, including outdoor spaces, landscaped gardens, water bowls and dog-friendly shopping experiences.

Mike Jones, Centre Director of Clarks Village, said: "Pawsome Pooch is one of our favourite events of the year where we celebrate all our dog guests with a line-up of fun, free, tail-wagging activities.

"At the heart of the event is our competition to become the outlet's Canine Executive Officer who will become the furry face of Clarks Village.

"We were overwhelmed with how many wonderful dogs entered and can't wait to see who guests choose as their next CEO."
