A TAUNTON pub has closed and is now up for sale.
The Racehorse Inn, on East Reach in Taunton, has been closed for some time, with its owner now seeking a new tenant or buyer for the pub.
It is now being marketed for let by its parent company, Red Oak Taverns, who are promising potential investors "flexible terms and low entry costs".

The Taunton pub is also listed via Rightmove. It is being advertised as a "large freehold pub & restaurant" with a bar for 30, a lounge bar for 20 and a function room for 25 people. As well as its large size, there is an on-site games area, commercial kitchen and a detached skittle alley at the rear, with "scope to develop".
The freehold is up for sale at £350,000 and is listed as "under offer" on the property buying website. It is not known when The Racehorse Inn ceased trading.
The closure comes less than a year after former management warned the future of the pub was in doubt amid rising costs.
Former management had previously warned that rising business rates threatened the pub's future, saying at the start of this year that The Racehorse Inn would "likely not exist" by the end of 2026 after being told its annual rates bill could increase from around £29,000 to £46,500. However, the Government later announced a package of support for pubs, including a 15 per cent rates discount from April 2026 and a two-year freeze on future increases.
The Racehorse has changed management several times in recent years and has previously attempted to attract customers through regular live entertainment and events before ultimately closing its doors.
