Wellington Town Council has announced three events to enable people to pay their respects to the town’s war dead.

The Royal British Legion in partnership with the council is organising the tributes to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.

The dedication of the Field of Remembrance will be held at Wellington Baptist Church at noon on Sunday (November 1).

A parade and Service of Remembrance is taking place at Wellington Park the following Sunday (November 8).

The parade is setting out from Wellington School at 2.55pm, with the service in the park commencing at 3.15pm.

And Armistice Day will be marked in the town centre on Wednesday, November 11, at 11am.

People are being warned that there will be brief temporary road closures to allow residents of the town to pay their respects.
