A FORMER chief executive of Taunton Town Football Club has admitted to offences linked to the rape of a woman who was drugged by her husband.

Karl Lindsay, 56, who stepped down as chief executive of Taunton Town last year, had been due to stand trial next week along with nine other men, all charged with allegations involving sexual offending against the same woman, who cannot be named.

At Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court today (October 30), Lindsay, of Taunton, Somerset, admitted offences between January 2015 and October 2025 that involved the rape of the woman by her husband and others, and the administration to her of substances in order to stupefy her for the purposes of engaging in sexual acts with her.

His victim sat in the public gallery and watched as Lindsay entered guilty pleas.

Lindsay was remanded in custody and was told he would be sentenced at the conclusion of the trial.

Earlier this month (October 2026), two other men admitted allegations related to the sexual offending.

Graham Brougham, 74, of Northwich, Cheshire, admitted an offence of rape in 2024. Sean Peers, 38, of Stockport, Greater Manchester, admitted a single count of assault by penetration.

Both were released on bail ahead of their sentencing.

The woman’s husband pleaded guilty last month to multiple sexual offences against his wife, including rape and administering a substance with intent.

He remains in custody and will also be sentenced at a later date.

The man in his 60s, from Stockport, cannot be identified to protect the anonymity of his wife.

Jurors have been sworn in to hear the trial of the remaining nine defendants and are now due to return to court on Monday afternoon when the prosecution is expected to open its case.

On trial are David Graves, 60, of Ilkeston, Derbyshire; Daniel Rayner, 42, of Whitstable, Kent; Philip Wild, 59, of Stockport; Mohammed Sabir, 28, of Stockport; Jonathan Kirk, 43, of Stockport; Jordan Wallace, 31, of Wythenshawe, Manchester; Alan Keelan, 42, of Wythenshawe; Robert Stewart, 70, of Stockport, and Richard Townsend, 38, of Heywood, Greater Manchester.

Karl Lindsay will be sentenced at the conclusion of the ongoing trial at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court.
