"If you're planning on drinking, please arrange alternative transport home.
"Consider using a designated driver, booking a taxi, or making use of public transport where available.
"The cost and inconvenience of arranging a safe journey home is far outweighed by the potentially devastating consequences of driving whilst over the limit."
The spokesperson said police will continue to proactively target those who choose to get behind the wheel after drinking.
They said: "If you drink and drive, you risk arrest, losing your licence, a substantial fine, and potentially causing life-changing harm to yourself or others.
"Let's work together to keep our roads safe this festive season."
