CHILDREN, staff and parents at Bishop’s Hull Primary School are celebrating this week after opening their new Copse play area.
The area was opened by chair of governors John Parkinson alongside members of the Parent Teacher Association, members of Taunton Deane Borough Council, Bishop’s Hull Community Trust, and Somerset Landscapes Ltd who carried out the work.
Children can now enjoy paths, seats, benches and a large reading chair and reading area.
The children were all involved in the project, planting a variety of plants to attract wildlife.
Head teacher Ralph Bullock said: “This area has been long in the planning stage and I am delighted it is now completed and has been received so warmly by our own school community and the wider community.
“The Copse offers a quiet haven away from the school playgrounds and will be used extensively to enhance our curriculum.
“We have further plans to introduce a variety of wildlife areas and there is also the facility for children to grow their own flowers and vegetables.”
The Copse is open to the local community outside school hours.
