POLICE officers from Armenia have been finding out how our officers get involved with the community in Taunton.

Along with staff from the National Police Improvement Agency, they were given a tour of the Halcon area of the town by Insp Tim Powell-Gill and Sgt Andy Murphy.

They visited the Link community centre, where they discussed neighbourhood policing, and saw the police ‘pod’ station at Asda.

They also went to the Acorn Centre to hear about plans to redevelop it as a one-stop community shop for police and health services.

Deputy District Commander Supt Damian Kearney said: “I was delighted to meet the delegation from Armenia and share with them the significant progress we’ve made in embedding citizen focussed policing across the district.

“They were particularly interested in our community engagement activities, such as the ASDA policing pod in Taunton, and will return to Armenia with many ideas to improve policing locally.”
