A POPULAR Taunton woman has celebrated her 106th birthday at Northway House residential home in Taunton.
Charlotte Hayden, affectionately known as Lottie, was born on the April 8, 1903, in Bridgend.
As a young woman she worked as a nanny for two families until she married John Hayden in 1931.
Lottie and John were married for 66 years and lived in the countryside near Bridgend for 25 years and moved to Taunton in 1957.
Despite being told she couldn't have children, Lottie has one daughter, Gillian, who she calls her miracle baby.
Lottie, who is described by staff as marvellous, popular and lively, has said she would have loved a “cupboard full of children” and now has two granddaughters, one great granddaughter and two great grandsons.
