A FEAST of fun will be held at Curry Rivel Primary School on Tuesday, August 4, with a play and youth day.
A 25ft mobile climbing wall, zoo animal encounters and giant inflatables will be just some of the “things to do” during the event which is being organised by South Somerset District Council between 12noon and 3pm.
The free event is open for people of all ages and will also offer sports, team games, historical play courtesy of the district council's heritage team and outdoor cooking run by Barnardos.
Further activities will be run by Huish Episcopi Leisure Centre, Community Police and Fire outreach teams and The Levels Children's Centre.
The council’s lottery-funded community play officer, James Divall, said: “The community has really come on board with this event, making it grow in size.
“Local people welcome the opportunity to provide a fun, free event for local families. What we are aiming to do is get people together for a variety of activities for people to enjoy, showcase the sports and leisure opportunities that are always in the local area, and also find out what kinds of play facilities people want to be developed in the community."
People will also be asked for their ideas and thoughts on plans for the development of the Stanchester Way Play Park and will be given the opportunity to suggest the facilities that they would like to see in the area.
The event is going ahead with funding from South Somerset District Council's Area North Committee, Curry Rivel Parish Council and Somerset County Councillor, Derek Nelson, who is supporting the day.
