THE first annual meeting of the Wellington Economic Partnership is being held at the United Reformed Church tonight at 6pm.

Members of the public are invited to attend.

The WEP involves the local authorities covering Wellington and the chamber of trade. It was responsible for commissioning the Vision for Wellington, which looked at the town’s next 20 years and was published in 2008.

Town councillor Dave Mitton, who is also the partnership secretary said: “Now that the recession seems to be bottoming out there is no better time for us to look at the future economic development of Wellington and our employment prospects.

“We came up with some ideas in the vision and we would welcome ideas on how we progress those and any new initiatives for the economic development of our town."
