TWO cadets from Taunton and Wellington have been recognised for their service at the Lord Lieutenant's Awards.

Charles Morris, 17, of Taunton and Fleur Netley, 17, from Wellington, both from the King's College Combined Cadet Force in Taunton, were invested as Lord Lieutenant's Cadets alongside Somerset reservists and instructors at a ceremony on Sunday.

Charles has worked up the ranks to become Sgt and has completed a host of charity challenges including a 60 mile bike ride when he was 11 and 21-mile run in 2006 and 2007.

Fleur has been promoted to Sgt, is a keen drama enthusiast and has represented the county in hockey.

Brig Tony Dalby-Welsh of the Taunton-based Wessex Reserve Forces and Cadets Association said: “The Lord Lieutenant's Awards are presented to the most outstanding cadets and adult volunteers in the county and the selection process is highly competitive.

“All those commended are very much an integral part of their communities and a splendid example of how we can all make a positive contribution to lives of others.”
