WE’VE got £30,000 to give away before Christmas – all we need now are some community groups in Taunton, Wellington and West Somerset to give it to!

The County Gazette has teamed up with Somerset Community Foundation for our £30,000 Giveaway.

We’re looking to help small community and volunteer-led groups in the Taunton Deane and West Somerset council areas by handing out grants of between £250 and £5,000.

Any small voluntary group or community project can apply as long as their turnover is under £30,000 a year – the organisation does not have to be a charity.

Somerset Community Foundation director Justin Sargent said: “We know there are very real issues and needs across Taunton Deane and West Somerset, and would welcome more funding applications from community projects in these areas.

“The aim is to help projects that make a real difference in our local communities, but which may find it difficult to access funding.”

Ken Bird, Editor-in-Chief of the County Gazette, said: “This is a superb opportunity for community groups to get some money to spend on helping local people – don’t miss it!”

Applications are welcome from a broad spectrum of organisations, from the very young or the elderly to the arts or the environment. The aim is to strengthen local communities.

Applications must be in to Somerset Community Foundation, Yeoman House, The Royal Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset BA4 6QN by 5pm on Thursday, November 26.
