WORK has started on constructing this new skate park in Taunton.

Diggers have moved onto the site in the corner of Hamilton Gault playing field, off Hamilton Road.

The wider area with the bowl in the top right will sit at the new pavilion end with the narrower end of the wedge nearer Severn Drive.

Russell Squire, managing director of Ape Skates and chairman of Community Skate Park Project Taunton, said: “The majority of the new skate park is further away from the housing estate than the old one and will be built of concrete, which is a quieter riding surface.

“Ape Skates has worked closely with Taunton Deane Council, Wheelscape Skate Parks and the user group to bring this project to fruition.

“We have been responsible for raising a large part of the funding and have put a lot of time and effort into making the park a reality. We have also acted as the link between the potential users of the park and the council to ensure that the right type of facility is being built.”
