A Taunton woman who was treated for breast cancer has raised £760 to say thank you to Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital.
Dorothy O’Keefe held a party for family and friends at the Comeytrowe Village Hall to mark the tenth anniversary of her diagnosis and treatment.
Party goers enjoyed a disco, food and bar, and took part in a raffle, thanks to a host of donations from businesses.
Dorothy said: “I wanted to arrange this event to thank the unit for the care they gave me and my family, and also to help in the fight against breast cancer. “It is not only the patient who suffers, but their friends and family too, and it seemed appropriate to raise the money by celebrating with them.”
The cash will go to the hospital’s breast care unit.
Consultant radiographer Patricia Middleton said: “We are extremely grateful to Dorothy and her friends and family for this very generous donation. “We will spend the money on further improving patient facilities at the unit.
“As well as the money, events such as this are a real encouragement to the staff at Musgrove as they express the support of the local community.”
