The Brewhouse in Taunton will be hosting The Little Red Hen on Saturday, February 27 at 11am and 1.30pm.

Making bread is hard work, but it would be a lot easier if the lazy farm yard animals got off their reclining sofas and lent a hand! In this tale, The Little Red Hen finds a grain of wheat, and asks for help from the other farmyard animals to plant it.

“Who will help me plant these grains of wheat?”

“Not I said the Pig.”

“Not I said the Rat.”

“Not I said the Cow.”

“Fair enough,” said the Little Red Hen, “I’ll do it myself!”

Finally, the hen has completed her task, and asks who will help her eat the bread. This time, all the previous animals eagerly volunteer. However, she declines their help and eats it, leaving none for anyone else.

Suitable for ages 3 – 7, this nursery school favourite has been ingeniously adapted by The Stuff & Nonsense Theatre Company. Featuring a host of animal puppets, sing-along songs and madcap comic routines, it has also been updated with plenty of 21st century references – chain saws, mobile phones, IPods and swine flu! This spectacular treat, enjoyable for all the family – including Dads, gets lots of laughs while teaching children the integrity of hard work and where food is sourced. Adult tickets are priced at £7 – £10 and children’s tickets range from £5 – £8. Family tickets are also available (max. 2 adults) from £26.
