Ilminster Youth Football Club is celebrating after receiving a massive funding boost from the UK's largest sports charity.
The club was awarded £6,867 from the Football Foundation towards better training facilities for the youngsters, and improved training of the coaching staff.
Between 160 and 180 children of all ages, and drawn from a wide catchment area, are registered with the club, which is based at Ilminster's recreation ground.
Vice-chairman Keith May said the grant would be a massive boost to the club's youngsters.
He said: "They gave us 87% of what we asked for - which is fantastic really. It's good to have some money behind us at last, and it's all for the benefit of the children."
The award of the grant, which will be staggered over a three-year period, came after the club became one of the first in the region to achieve FA Community Club status.
