I AGREE wholeheartedly with Andrew Lee about the state of the canal towpath (Postbag, June 23).
Thinking of the environment and preferring to avoid rocketing parking charges, I also like to leave the car at home, sadly thereby missing all the large signs proclaiming 'Taunton in Bloom', and cycle up the towpath to town.
Unfortunately, trying to find my way to Firepool I feel rather like Dr Livingstone searching for the source of the Nile.
We overheard from someone who works there that, while the towpath belongs to the council the weeds belong to British Waterways and are, thus, not the council's responsibility.
Perhaps the latter could talk to the former before I am obliged to fix rotary blades to the wheels of my bike!
Taunton in Bloom? Blooming Taunton, more like.
