A NEW site is desperately needed for a transmitter to broadcast the forthcoming 10Radio station due to be on air from Wiveliscombe throughout September.
Organisers were told by communications watchdog Ofcom this week that plans to site the transmitter for the FM station from Silver Street, Wiveliscombe, would only give coverage of a four-kilometre radius from the town.
Reception in other areas would be 'OK', but Milverton would suffer due to the intervening hills and anyone east of the town would not receive the station at all.
That means they need to find another site higher up to get better coverage.
