Pendennis Motor Club held the fifth round of the World's Apart sponsored South West Enduro Championship at a new venue on the outskirts of Truro on Sunday.

A full entry of 120 solo motorcycle riders lined up at 11 am to start at one minute intervals between classes. The "Championship Class" was the first away to tackle the 6.5 mile wooded and demanding circuit, taking 17 minutes to complete the first lap.

Front runners Jason Fraser, Tim Lewis, Chris Dustow and Bradley Williams went through lap scoring nose to tail. On completion of their second lap, the first three places remained the same, with Fraser opening up a 30 second gap between him and Lewis, with Dustow coming under pressure from brother Steve, who came from a first lap eighth to a second lap fourth.

As things settled down Fraser pulled away to finish with a five minute winning cushion and maximum points to strengthen his grip on a championship that he lost last year.

Apart from a mid-race slip off, allowing Chris Dustow into second place, Lewis also fought back to finish as the only other rider to finish with 12 laps, along with Fraser, and securing the runner-up berth with the Dustow brothers swapping positions until the flag and the verdict going to Steve by a bike's length from Chris, with a fast finishing Jack Twentyman just seconds adrift.

Once again the top experts, Carl McIlroy and Pete Bulley, pulled away to the front and continued their season-long battle, swapping places for the first half of the event, when Bulley flipped his KTM, damaging the rear sub-frame and ending his chances of any points.

With McIlroy being the only "expert" to complete 11 laps after the demise of Bulley, it giave him an easy 20 points. This left last year's "Clubman champion", Charlie Richards, in runner-up position with a one minute gap at the finish over Mark Denslow.
