Two charities in Cornwall are £600 each better off thanks to the footballing prowess of local businesses who took part in the Cornwall Business five-a-side charity tournament held at Carn Brea Leisure Centre.
Jointly organised by mpad and Carn Brea Leisure Centre, the event which is in its second year, was once again won by Lloyds TSB who were victorious in the "battle of the banks" by beating Natwest 5-1 in the final.
"I think this year's event was really good fun," said mpad's Mark Picken. "We had some new teams, some close games and a chance to renew rivalries with some opposition from last year.
"The idea of the event is to raise as much money as possible whilst having some fun outside the workplace, and I think we achieved just that."
A total of £1,200 was raised this year with half the money going to Carn Brea Leisure Centre Trust, who provided the venue, lunch and referee, whilst the other half will go to the chosen charity of Lloyds TSB, Kernow Special School.
"It's the second year now that Kernow Special School has benefited," continued Mr Picken. "That's good, but it's about time that another charity and another team won, so I'm looking forward to next year to see who can beat them. If anyone thinks they can, email us and we'll put you on the list."
