The twelfth Annual Marazion to Porthleven Gig race took place last Wednesday with the 8.25 mile race getting under way from Mounts Bay on a beautiful sunny Cornish evening.

This year Porthleven Gig Club decided to charge each crew that took part £7 with the proceeds going to charity.

The 17 Gigs taking part in the race lined up with St Michael's Mount acting as a backdrop.

All the crews had a long and hard row in front of them. The normal race time is one hour and 10 minutes, but this year with a head wind, outgoing tide and choppy sea, all crews knew the race would be harder and may take a little longer.

The conditions did not do detract from the race, with three crews ahead of the pack at Rinsy head and fighting to hold onto first place as they turned into Porthleven Harbour.

The medals and trophy were presented by Mr Andy Hawken of Skinner's Brewery in Truro..

Porthleven Gig Club would like to thank the event sponsors, The Atlantic Inn, Porthleven for the Atlantic Inn trophy and winners medals. To Skinner's Brewery for their sponsorship and support and help with this event.
