Camborne confirmed their credentials as serious championship contenders on Saturday with a well earned six wicket home win over Truro, to leapfrog over the city club into second spot.

They are 24 points behind leaders St Just but have a game in hand.

Truro's batting line up, which swept to victory emphatically the previous week against Werrington, were unable to get going after losing their first three wickets for 41. Needing a modest target of 121, Camborne themselves faced early problems when they slipped to 15 for 3, but Ian Goldsworthy and Tim Edwards steadied the ship and thanks to Goldsworthy's unbeaten 59 the victory margin of six wickets with 24 overs to spare was clear cut.

Truro had been put in on an overcast, but pleasantly warm afternoon in front of a good sized crowd. Ryan Driver, opening, was first to go for 11, being held by Malcolm Pooley at mid on off the bowling of Scott Curnow from the pavilion end.

Alex Tunnadine didn't last long before he was caught and bowled by Dominic Bostock for a duck and the previous week's centurion, acting skipper Tim Marrion in the absence of the injured Tom Sharp, was bowled by Bostock at 41-3 in the 16th over. Adam Barber and Jon Kent staged a recovery but the introduction of spinner Jono Hall from the scorebox end transformed the game.
