BLAZING sunshine helped break attendance records at the Royal Cornwall Show for the second year in succession. Numbers were up by nearly 5,000 to 124,162 showing once more that the county show is as popular as ever.

For three days it appeared many of the county's residents had headed off to Wadebridge. Blessed with three days of good weather thousands poured in through the gates from the time they opened each day and even after lunch on Saturday with just a few hours to go, queues to get in were 100 yards or more at the west entrance.

Instead of brollies and wellies being the most sought after items at the show it was sun hats this year along with water and sun cream, much of the latter being given away or offered to people as they became redder by the minute.
